Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.

Solidarity. (from the lat. solidare) n. 1. the quality of being solidary; 2. reciprocal responsibility among the members of a group, namely social, professional, etc.; 3. sense of sharing another’s suffering.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

Companies and Universities: a win-win relationship, according to 2bpartner and AddVolt

Link To Leaders

João Matos, executive director of the engineering and construction group dstgroup and president and CEO of venture capital firm 2bpartner, and Bruno Azevedo, CEO of the start-up AddVolt, were guests of Spe Futuri, Investors of today. They spoke of the projects in which they are involved, of the connection between the business community and the university, the importance of a corporate venture capital to accelerate innovation, the electrification of vehicles, sustainability and the future.

Read some headlines.

João Matos, 2bpartner and dstgroup

“There is a great difference in the connection between the university and the business world and, above all, in the incubation of the development of new ideas and a more entrepreneur/ entrepreneurial spirit of research that is done in order to monetize it or transform it into products or services that may be marketed (…)“.

“(…) The fact that the dst group is always closely linked to innovation and the development of new projects and that it is a very organic growth group, we have evolved even more (…)”.

“(…) We think that both in universities and in research centres, there is a lot of knowledge that is being generated and that can help us, and us, with our experience and with the know-how we have of the network at the worldwide level (…), we managed to give the business vision to these projects (…) ”.

“A corporate VC activity is very important to accelerate innovation projects and allows both parties to win. Entrepreneurs gain access to someone who has business experience and more financial capacity and companies obviously have access to knowledge (…) and a permanent start-up status (…) ”.

"Despite having a profit of 200 million, despite having 1700 workers we want to have the same spirit as a start-up that has five or 10 people working (...)".

“The investment in AddVolt was six years ago and we see AddVolt growing with great satisfaction. It is not an activity connected with the group, but electrification is a trend that we think would be unavoidable and supporting AddVolt meant also entering electrification (…)”.

“What will remain above all is an acceleration of a new way of working, a way of working that is more decentralized, more networked and more flexible. I think this is going to be a big consequence. In start-ups, I think that already existed a lot (…). In larger companies, I think there could still be some resistance and what has been happening in recent months is a quick adaptation, because those who do not adapt to this new way will be at a competitive disadvantage (…) ”.

"The tools are there, they are numerous, and I think that companies have to take advantage of this opportunity, especially larger companies because otherwise, they lose competitiveness".

Bruno Azevedo, AddVolt

"We were pioneers worldwide with a system that can be installed on any truck, at any stage of the life cycle, to power the cooling systems only in electrical mode and thus completely turn off the diesel engine".

“We have noticed that this way of working in the community ends up enriching the ecosystem more and more (…) and even proactively participating in the integration or inclusion of other entrepreneurs who have ideas and want to start their own project (…)”

“I feel that the new entrepreneurs who are starting now have much more knowledge and more experience and a different view of what it is to start up and even start up internationally (…)”.

"The teachers themselves also end up trying to create this connection right from the start in the projects and in the chairs, trying to create this bug and this effervescence (...)".

“Our mission is to electrify, but in a sustainable way (…) and we like to prove that we do it”.

“(…) AddVolt was always concerned with ensuring that there is always a second application, a second life for this battery and, moreover, realizing that there is also a residual value for this battery, so that our client, in the end, does not has a loss of value during its use”.

(…) Everything is manufactured in Porto, our customer uses the system in the vehicle for 10 years (…), we monitor the operation of the system daily on our digital platform and we can understand (…) what is the condition of the battery (..) ”.

“We are very attentive and I think this is something that marks our generation a lot and, together with the experience of previous generations, I think we will have a very exciting future, because the proof of this has already been happening and I really like to put these two parts together (….). we look at our generation, but we always try to be very attentive and listen carefully to what other generations have to teach (…) ”.

“I see an increasingly exciting future (…) and us as younger people, or with energy, we have to use synergies, but with the experience of those who have been doing this for longer than us, those who have gone through several economic cycles, and that has a lot to teach and we have to have the humility to listen in order to be in a more solid way ”.
