There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

dst Literature Grand Prize celebrates 25 years and awards prize to poet Fernando Guimarães

Correio do Minho

The ceremony takes place tomorrow, at 6 pm, at Theatro Circo.

The dstgroup delivers, tomorrow, the award of the commemorative edition of the 25 years of the dst Literature Grand Prize, to the poet Fernando Guimarães, for his book “Junto à Pedra”. The award ceremony takes place at 6 pm, at the Theatro Circo, in an event that will be attended by the winner, José Manuel Mendes, representative of the jury of the 25th dst Literature Grand Prize, and José Teixeira, chairman of the dstgroup board of directors. The Minister of Culture, Graça Fonseca, and the President of the City Council of Braga, Ricardo Rio, will also be present at the ceremony, via streaming.

This year, in which poetry is recognized, the ceremony will start at Theatro Circo and continue to Largo S. João do Souto, where the commemorative work of the 25 years of history of the dst Literature Grand Prize will be inaugurated. “UM SEGREDO GUARDA O MUNDO”, 2020, is a multi-panel of tiles signed by JAS, João Alexandrino, which tells the story of what is already one of the most recognized and prestigious awards in Portuguese literature. The work, which will be given to the city by the business group led by José Teixeira, will be at Largo de São João de Souto, where, for some years, the Braga Book Fair has been held, of which the dstgroup is the main patron.

The ceremony complies with the protocol defined by the General Health Directorate, thus guaranteeing the necessary and required comfort and safety. Live streaming will also be ensured through social networks, Facebook and Instagram, the dstgroup and zet gallery.

“The brilliance of a semantically and formally airy poetic construction, renewed in its classical matrix and in the ideo-sensitive paths already revealed throughout a very unique bibliography”, justified the choice of the jury, composed by Vítor Manuel de Aguiar e Silva, as president, José Manuel Mendes and Carlos Mendes de Sousa. The prize, usually worth 15,000 euros, will go up in this edition, which marks a quarter of a century at 25,000 euros.

Along with the delivery of the prize and the opening of the work in public space created by JAS, the dstgroup celebrates the silver anniversary of this initiative with the artistic script “Art, Literature e Local Commerce”, a circuit designed by the zet gallery, which invited 25 artists to create an artwork inspired by each of the winning books and authors of the dst. The artworks are distributed by 25 emblematic establishments of the local commerce in Braga, forming an artistic itinerary that values experimentation, everyday life and creates the opportunity to bring reading and visual arts to the local economy.

Remember that the dst Literature Grand Prize was born with the aim of awarding original works, in two literary genres, written in Portuguese by Portuguese authors, thus contributing to the promotion and enhancement of Portuguese language literature. Throughout 25 years, the prize, in the value of 15 thousand euros, grew, affirming itself as one of most recognized in Portugal, and also in the number of participants, that denotes the interest and the prestige that has generated next to the community of authors and in the sector. The focus on promoting the language, Portuguese literature and its authors and promoting reading habits will continue to be one of the main purposes of this award, which has distinguished authors such as Luísa Costa Gomes, Manuel Alegre, Mário Cláudio, Daniel Jonas and Lídia Jorge, over the past five years.

Regarding the anniversary, José Teixeira, president of the dstgroup, considers that “we never needed poetry so much, for the collective understanding, to unite us. Never the "us", needed everyone so much, and the dialectical interest was so necessary for everyone to pass this challenging and painful journey. Never has poetry been an instrumental tool to overcome ourselves individually and thus transcend ourselves as a social body. ” The head in charge also emphasizes that “there are things that only poets understand. Facing the radical uncertainty that we experience, the power of poetry causes human nature in its pure and humanistic dimension. ” In conclusion, says “there are 25 years of writing about the power of the poetic word in the economy and finance of companies, cities and countries”.
