Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.

Solidarity. (from the lat. solidare) n. 1. the quality of being solidary; 2. reciprocal responsibility among the members of a group, namely social, professional, etc.; 3. sense of sharing another’s suffering.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

Neuroscience to manage people and businesses

Construir

The dstgroup kicks off this week with a training plan and small talks, aimed at promoting knowledge in the field of neuroscience, emotion and reason among its workers. The 16 sessions, held online aim to provide, reinforce and optimize the behavioural skills of workers, most of whom are trained in technical and engineering areas. This cycle of small talks, cantered mainly on materials and tools that explain and support decision making, follow the programme of workshops on Mental Health, which the business group led by José Teixeira promoted with its workers, in September and October this year, which will continue in 2021 with complementary training in first aid in mental health.

During the training plan, topics related to the functioning of the brain and emotions will be addressed, as well as the relationship between neuroscience and emotion, reason, decision making, human behaviour and well-being. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of dstgroup believes that this training will make a valuable contribution to the management of the group's businesses, both in terms of behaviour and decision-making. “Neuroscience is the most viable path for people and business management. I am convinced that by understanding human behaviour, through the study of the nervous system relating it to the physiology of the organism, our workers will be better prepared for the path we want to take in the dstgroup”, adding that “a significant number of sessions they will explain how our brain works, how the biological process of decision is triggered and how we can positively condition the decision”. The head in charge, who currently employs more than 2000 workers and operates in sectors such as civil construction, renewable energy, telecommunications, ventures and real estate, believes that “with these tools we will be better prepared to think quickly or slowly, in the certainty that we will be generating the highest possible value in the decision and business chain”.

Aware that a very significant percentage of his staff are trained in technical and engineering areas, José Teixeira recognizes that “most of the workers involved in this training cycle are not trained for certain behavioural skills and we live on our behaviours, at work, in family life, in the social context ", which is why he believes that "investing in this training with the sieve in neuroscience will allow us to enter a new stage where the scientific component of behaviour will become the cause of things".

Training in Mental Health to ensure the well-being of workers

In September and October, dstgroup provided its workers with a training plan designed to promote the adoption of personal strategies that contribute to the well-being of workers in the workplace, whether in the context of a company or telecommuting.

The first training block dedicated to the theme took place over seven weeks and covered subjects such as mental health and well-being in the workplace, self-knowledge, communication and empathy and positive parenting. Bullying and conflict resolution, stress, burnout and work life balance were the topics covered in this training, given weekly online by ENCONTRAR+SE - Association for the Promotion of Mental Health.

The initiative joined other mental health promotion actions that the group has put in place, particularly in the context of the pandemic determined by COVID-19. Teleworking and the consequent change in routines that it brought, demanded greater attention and support, translated into greater monitoring and the provision of strategies to maintain levels of productivity and mental health and well-being in isolation.

José Teixeira, Chairman of the Board of Directors of dstgroup, believes that “it is essential to promote the mental health of our workers, because only with healthy, qualified and motivated workforces will we be able to compete, innovate and differentiate ourselves in an increasingly demanding global market”. According to the head in charge, “companies must pay special attention to these issues related to workers' mental illness and implement strategies that guarantee the well-being of workers, a vital resource in the country and in which one must invest through a good education, training and development.”
