"Great stories are written with values in the hearts of men"
Explore our values...
Photo by Luís Pinto, finalist of the Emergentes dst Award 2011.

Respect. (from the lat. respectu) n. 1. respect; 2. consideration; high regard; 3. deference; compliance; veneration; 4. honour; worship; 5. relation; refererence...

We believe that everyone should be respected for their work, for their attitudes, opinions and options.

Photo by Mila Teshaieva, finalist of the Emergentes dst Award 2011.

Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.

Loyalty. (from the lat. legalitate) n. the quality of being loyal; fidelity; sincerity.

Respect for the principles and rules that guide the honour and probity. Faithfulness to commitments and agreements undertaken, staunch character.
To remain loyal to the business partners because we depend on them and they depend on us.
Being trustworthy for being loyal.

Photo by Ian Lieske, finalist of the Emergentes dst Award 2011.

Solidarity. (from the lat. solidare) n. 1. the quality of being solidary; 2. reciprocal responsibility among the members of a group, namely social, professional, etc.; 3. sense of sharing another’s suffering.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Ambition. (from the lat. ambitione) n. 1. vehement desire of wealth, honours or glories; 2. expectation about the future; aspiration; 3. lust; greed…

Vehement desire to achieve a particular goal. Ambition not to resign ourselves. Ambition to take the best potential from ourselves. Ambition to deserve ourselves. Ambition to be athletes in our top-level competitive jobs. Ambition to beat our brands. Ambition to get the best deals with the maximum value, due to the high levels of proficiency and efficiency.

Esthetics. ESTHETICS (from the Greek aisthetiké, "sensitive") n.f. 1. Philosophy branch of philosophy that studies the beauty and nature of artistic phenomena; 2. author's own style, time, etc.; 3. harmony of shapes and colors, beauty; 4. set of techniques and treatments that aim to beautify the body.

We decided to build the company's economic foundations under a cultured, cosmopolitan and cool image. Because it is a charming state of being. Good taste because we are sustainable and we respect the planet. Good taste because we are sensitive. Good taste just because.

Photo by Karl Erik Brondbo, finalist of the Emergentes dst Award 2011.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

Environmental issues have long formed part of our management system, through the adoption of an internal policy that includes environmental criteria such as developing processes and procedures that have a lower environmental impact, practising responsible consumption of natural resources and preventing pollution by reducing the use of hazardous products and the production of waste.

Braga Business Mobility Pact
Pact promoted by the Business Council for Sustainable Development. As part of this pact, which we signed in 2021, we have increased the number of car charging stations on our campus and the percentage of electric or hybrid vehicles in our fleet. Additionally, we have made light 100% electric means of transport available within our facilities (bicycles, scooters and golf carts).
Imagem47
Efficient Fleet management
We won the Fleet Magazine Award in the Best Fleet Manager category. The project submitted for the competition covered all the work we have conducted using the Cartrack Fleet Management platform, the CarSharing dst platform and the Integration System using the software packages SAP, FuelData (at dst) and Galp Frota (outside dst).

RENew
Also based on the principles of circularity, this project included the development of a range of structural concretes and bituminous concretes with distinctive features, manufactured with the inclusion of high levels of industrial waste and by-products.

World Earth Day 2021
To mark World Earth Day, we shared an awareness-raising video (watch it here) illustrating the transformations that have occurred in recent decades on the surface of our planet due to climate change, deforestation, and urbanisation, which bring with them serious consequences. For a more in-depth look at the theme, we invite you to view the documentary “Closing the Loop”. Click on + to see the video.
2019 European Mobility Week
Aligned with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we have once again joined the European Mobility Week with the objective of raising awareness of the importance of alternative mobility as a way of reducing pollution and ecological footprint. In this sense, we promote a walk and an electric bike and scooters exhibition.

World Environment Day 2020
“Small acts multiplied by millions of people can transform the world”, Howard Ziin.
Inspired by Howard Ziin, we want to make our workers aware of the environmental problems and the impact that their actions have on the planet.
In this way, on the World Environment Day, we promoted an awareness campaign through which we offer our workers a pot with aromatic herbs seeds to draw the attention to the consumption of organic and more sustainable products.
1. plastic free july 2020
Plastic-free July 2020
During the month of July, we joined a worldwide initiative, Plastic Free July, which aims to reduce plastic waste around the world. The campaign encouraged people not to use plastic during that month, to encourage this habit and continue it.
In this sense, we have created a movement to share tips on how to reduce plastic consumption in the various environments we deal with in our daily lives: home, work, supermarket, and events. We emailed tips to people who signed up for our campaign page and encouraged sharing the photos on social media.
3. dia mundial da agua 2021
Water Day 2021
To mark World Water Day, we promoted an awareness action in which we deprived our workers of access to water in the pantries of our complex for a morning, with the aim of raising reflection on the value of water for each of us. We then sent a video to all workers with some impactful data on the inequalities that still exist worldwide.
2019 World Environment Day
We joined this year's UN theme to celebrate the World Environment Day and in addition to challenging our employees to put on their mask in order to raise awareness of air pollution, we also planted dozens of trees in Teresa Gonçalves Gomes Garden.
Green Cork
We were involved in the "Green Cork" campaign, led by Quercus, offering our collaborators low-consumption light bulbs in exchange for cork stoppers.
Regular meetings
We regularly hold meetings with employees to learn about their environmental concerns and assess suggestions for improvement.
campanha reduzo 20 dst
We promote internal actions to mobilise all the members of the group for the adoption of daily environmental practices, as for example the "“Reduzo 20%” campaign that foresees the adoption of safer and efficient driving habits contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emission.
Imagem44
Renewable Energy Community (REC)
Since 2019, we have installed more than five thousand square metres of photovoltaic panels, which has allowed us to increase the production of photovoltaic energy on our campus by 53 times the original value, thus reducing our CO2 emissions by around 350 tonnes per year.
The energy produced is shared between our various companies through a Renewable Energy Community (REC). In fact, we were one of the first CERs in Portugal. In addition to contributing to the decarbonisation of the energy sector, RECs also provide a more secure energy supply for territories and less energy dependence for the country.

CarSharing dst
A ride-sharing platform created in 2017 with the aim of encouraging colleagues to share rides with each other, as well as materials. In addition to cost savings, there has been a significant reduction in the environmental footprint. The savings generated are then divided equally between the employees who share rides.

CirMat
Innovation project funded by EEA Grants that has promoted the industrial development of innovative building materials from construction and demolition waste and by-products from other industries. This led to seven Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and circularity passports.

it pays to innovate with dst
This is our latest campaign, launched in 2024, which aims to encourage and recognise our employees’ creativity and contribution to the group’s ongoing development. For each idea or interaction with other ideas that is placed in our online Innovation Box, the worker accumulates points and at the end of the year the top 3 will receive an author’s bookcase with dozens of books for their home plus a wellness pack.

World Environment Day 2021
We marked World Environment Day by focusing on the theme "Ecosystem Recovery", from which we shared a story developed from interviews conducted with our employees to understand their concerns about the environment and sustainability. At the same time, we told the story of Jadav Payeng, who over the last 40 years has planted a tree a day to save his island and has achieved a green space bigger than Central Park. Click on the + to know the story.
2019 European Week for the Prevention of Waste
We also joined the European Week for the Prevention of Waste, with the objective of continuing to raise awareness of the importance of reducing waste, the circular economy and the environment protection. In this sense, we eliminated the plastic cups from our dining areas and offered a glass bottle to our employees, promoted a technical visit to Braval and a workshop on the creation of sustainable homemade detergents.
We boost the regular development of processes and procedures in order to cause less impact on the environment, placing at the disposal of our customers, suppliers and all interested parties the management policy and environmental practices adopted by the dst group.
2. SEPR 2020
European Week for Waste Reduction 2020
We participated in another European Week for Waste Reduction, this year with the theme "Invisible Waste", which aimed to alert to the amount of waste that is produced in the manufacture of the products we buy, as well as the waste that will be produced after the consumption of these products.
Therefore, throughout the week, we promoted some online actions, presented a set of good practices and offered a set of sustainable products and a book alluding to the theme, resulting from an internal giveaway that we promoted.
2019 World Water Day
We celebrated the World Water Day on 22 March 2019, under the theme "Nobody is left behind". This is an adaptation of the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: as sustainable development progresses, all should benefit. Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) includes a target to ensure the water availability and sustainable management for all by 2030. This means no one is left behind. We asked our employees what they could do to help the environment and raised awareness of saving this fundamental resource.
We have created an Environment Committee with the goal of "maintaining the preservation of the environment in the different business areas of the group". This Committee usually meets once a year to discuss issues related to environmental management, always with the purpose of promoting a continuous improvement and participation of all our collaborators.
2018 European Week for the Prevention of Waste
Since 2012, we have been participating in the European Week for the Prevention of Waste, promoting several awareness raising actions on the theme.
In 2018, the theme was “Prevention of Hazardous Waste - It's time to detoxify!”. We distribute oil containers for used cooking oils, boxes for storing batteries, homemade recipes to replace the use of certain chemicals.
European Mobility Wee
We participated in The European Mobility Week, which took place between 16 and 22 September 2018, having released the carsharing platform and the results achieved a year later. In previous years, this week had already been celebrated, for example, in 2017 under the theme “We go further when we share”, and we had workers coming by bicycle, some of them having acquired this habit.
