Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.

A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

dst Group builds world-leading energy system on the island of Graciosa

The dst group is responsible for building the world's first hybrid energy system on Graciosa island in the Azores, which will allow the island to become virtually independent of non-renewable energy sources, almost completely eliminating the use of fossil fuels. The project results from an investment of about 24 million euros by the owners, and predicts that more than 65% of the energy will come from renewable sources, such as the sun and wind. The management of this energy will be done by an innovative software system developed by the German company Younicos, which allows for the exemption of a conventional thermal power station in order to regulate energy, yet supported by a system of batteries that will allow the uninterrupted supply of energy, regardless of its source.

This system, which will set new standards in this area for islands around the world, will allow the reduction of greenhouse gases’ effects resulting from the burning of fossil fuels with clear environmental and safety advantages. It will also have a positive impact on people's quality of life, as well as on the economic bill, as it will drastically reduce the import of fuels. The pioneer project on Graciosa island is a showcase for the development of solutions capable of providing quality of life to the communities, without neglecting the necessary environmental balance.

The dst group companies involved in this project (dst sa, dte and dstrenováveis) are responsible for the development and construction of the infrastructures designed at the level of civil construction, together with that of electrical networks and equipment installation that are part of the entire system installation, encompassing the medium and low voltage equipments to be incorporated into either the 2.6 MW or the wind farm substation, with an installed capacity of 4.5 MW. The project also includes the development and installation of a photovoltaic park, which integrates the hybrid power system to be built, with an installed capacity of 1 MW.

The project also involves the development of works associated with the heating, ventilation and air conditioning, telecommunications as well as automatic detention and fire fighting systems.

For José Teixeira, chairman of the dst group's Board of Directors, this project on Graciosa Island "puts our company at the forefront of environmentally sustainable solutions in terms of energy production, through a completely innovative system worldwide, requiring all the know-how and experience in terms of technological innovation that we have accumulated. Being associated to a project that will become a world reference for energy use in this type of territory is not only a source of pride, but also fundamental in terms of new solutions on the market, economically attractive and with a positive impact on people’s quality of life, "he concluded.

James McDougall, CEO of Younicos, believes that the dst group is the ideal partner for the implementation of the world's first hybrid power system on that European island. "Together we will transform Graciosa into a global project to replace expensive diesel fuel with an increasingly cheaper generation of renewable energy. There is enormous potential in Portugal, and not only for this type of highly sophisticated storage solutions and innovative business models. He also believes that hybrid and clean renewable energy systems and microstrips can replace the economically optimal amount of conventional fuel, thus creating a triple winning situation, both for the island's inhabitants and external investors, as well as for the planet itself. "
