We believe that everyone should be respected for their work, for their attitudes, opinions and options.
Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.
There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.
Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...
Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.
Loyalty. (from the lat. legalitate) n. the quality of being loyal; fidelity; sincerity.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.
Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...
Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.
We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.
Expresso
“There is no barrier if you apply imagination,” says José Teixeira, who has several projects under way in the group he heads and which will invest €66 million in industrial buildings this year.
dst’s roots lie in construction, but “nowadays, in fact, less than 50% of our activity is construction”, states José Teixeira, as part of his presentation of the group he heads and which operates in the areas of engineering and construction, the environment, telecommunications, renewable energies, real estate and venture capital, and is ready to open its doors to new activities, ranging from rail to batteries and even nuclear.
“There is no barrier if you apply imagination,” says the entrepreneur, who speaks of their “best year ever” in 2025, with several companies breaking records, although the results are not yet available.
One sign that the group is growing is the dst Campus in Braga, where new factories are appearing, such as the projects by Siza Vieira and Souto Moura dedicated to industrial construction and minimalist window frames, and where work has already begun on “Europe’s third battery factory”, in a €17 million investment to recycle end-of-life batteries. This could be followed by another €12 million investment in hydrometallurgy, to extract lithium from batteries, because “sustainability is an opportunity and not a barrier to the economy”.
There are other projects elsewhere in Portugal. In Figueira da Foz, a 30 000 m2 plant for precast concrete is under construction, designed by Carvalho Araújo, and a bankrupt facility was acquired to double the project’s initial area in order to meet demand.
Along with this is an investment in rail, in a consortium with Alstom, involving the construction of a hub dedicated to trains and workshops in Condeixa, with an eye on maintenance services for CP, and an aluminium industrial project for vehicle bodies.
There are also logistics centres in Seixal and Pombal, the acquisition of Prioridade, a company in the Central region of Portugal that builds roads and road surfaces, still awaiting clearance from the Competition Authority, and several concrete plants, among other projects.
INVESTING €66 MILLION
dst is also opening offices in various parts of the country to provide “local workplaces” for its 4000 employees and counter the trend toward teleworking.
Abroad, in Angola, the expansion of its facilities is underway with a factory for metal structures. Nuclear energy is another possibility on the table: “I would love it,” states the entrepreneur, who has already made parts for CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research).
Overall, the investment in buildings planned for this year is around €66 million, according to José Teixeira, who continues to invest in training because “skilled workers create more value”. Among the new initiatives in this area, he mentions the possibility of launching a course for railway maintenance technicians.
Innovation is a priority in the group’s strategy, sustained by initiatives such as the innovation box and cash bonuses awarded to ideas that generate business, alongside a steady investment in patents. This is also where the group’s opening to venture capital fits in, with support for startups such as the British company Gazelle, which reduces the weight of offshore platforms for wind power by 30%, and the setting up of startups in-house, such as a new project focused on security cameras and artificial intelligence.
Formally, the group is organised into three segments: DST SGPS, Cari (urban heritage rehabilitation and restoration), and Adaúfe, which concentrates the venture capital and spin-off businesses, which generates €60 million in revenue, following a management model in which workers are invited to become partners. Its next project will be a spin-off dedicated to traditional crafts, from furniture to plastering and gilding.
