Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.

Loyalty. (from the lat. legalitate) n. the quality of being loyal; fidelity; sincerity.

Solidarity. (from the lat. solidare) n. 1. the quality of being solidary; 2. reciprocal responsibility among the members of a group, namely social, professional, etc.; 3. sense of sharing another’s suffering.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

dst leads the consortium responsible for the enlargement of the regional system of Carvoeiro

The consortium led by dst is responsible for the construction of the water supply system to the municipalities of Albergaria-a-Velha, Ílhavo, Aveiro, Oliveira do Bairro, Águeda and Estarreja, a construction work that includes the rehabilitation and reinforcement of the WTS of Carvoeiro and the installation of the entire collection system.

The works involve the execution of 101,578 ml supply pipes and raw water, the construction of six water storage tanks and the pumping station of Beco. This work, which will result in an investment of more than 25 million euros, is one of the largest on-going investments in Portugal in the scope of the hydraulic sector, namely in what regards the accomplishment of drinking water infrastructures for human supply. The completion of the works is scheduled for the end of July 2014.

The accomplishment of the installation works for DCI and HDPE pipes, the reinforced concrete structures and hydro-mechanical and electrical installations is under the responsibility of the consortium dst.

The usage of DCI pipes, with interior polyurethane coating, offer considerable advantages, contributing decisively to the reduction of chlorine consumption, a very important solution in the sections where the speed range is lower and, therefore, the retention time in the interior of the pipe held for longer periods.

The enlargement of the Regional System of Carvoeiro also implies the construction project in all specialties necessary for the accomplishment of the works, with a particular focus on hydraulic engineering solutions, a sector in which the consortium has been playing a role of reference in terms of innovation and development of solutions that best meet our customers' needs.

The project for the system of Carvoeiro involves the accomplishment of "bypass" works to the two existing pumping ducts of raw water, becoming out of service all the existing logs that collide with the accomplishment of works in the new WTP.

In addition, it will also be carried out the reinforcement and rehabilitation of groundwater collection boreholes and wells, the new surface water collection, and respective pumping station, as well as the setting up of a pumping duct for raw water of surface intake, in order to supply the fast mixing chambers of the new WTP treatment line.

In what refers to the intervention works in the existing WTP, it should be highlighted the improvement of current raw water ducts from boreholes and wells, the rehabilitation of the slaked lime silos in terms of sealing and absence of moisture, and finally the strengthening of the neutralization system for chlorine leaks by means of caustic soda.

The work also embraces the accomplishment of a platform and interconnecting walkways, including the retaining walls for the new WTP facilities.

According to José Teixeira, President of dst droup. “This enlargement work for the Regional System of Carvoeiro is an echo of the extensive experience concerning the construction of complex hydraulic infrastructures and a result of the know-how where innovation is always seeking for solutions that best meet our customers' needs."

In the opinion of José Teixeira, "The path to innovation is decisive to maintain the business solidity that we proudly present. It reveals to be a preference within the construction market, a market that is aware of the accomplishment quality standards and advanced technology presented in our works both in Portugal and abroad".

It is also important to mention the participation of dte which is responsible for the electrical works and hydraulic installations.
