Respect. (from the lat. respectu) n. 1. respect; 2. consideration; high regard; 3. deference; compliance; veneration; 4. honour; worship; 5. relation; refererence...

Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.

Loyalty. (from the lat. legalitate) n. the quality of being loyal; fidelity; sincerity.

Respect for the principles and rules that guide the honour and probity. Faithfulness to commitments and agreements undertaken, staunch character.

Solidarity. (from the lat. solidare) n. 1. the quality of being solidary; 2. reciprocal responsibility among the members of a group, namely social, professional, etc.; 3. sense of sharing another’s suffering.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Esthetics. ESTHETICS (from the Greek aisthetiké, "sensitive") n.f. 1. Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

dst takes readings to a creche, a senior citizen's home, a hospital and a prison

Diário do Minho

Company organizes a Reading party for workers and university students.

The works of some of the poets honoured by the dst Grand Prize for Literature will be read at various locations around the city. The works of João Luís Barreto Guimarães, José Viale Moutinho and João Melo will thus be taken to various locations in the city, in an initiative that will take place on 18 and 22 November, at the Creche and the Home of the Brotherhood of Santa Cruz, as well as at Braga Hospital and Braga Prison.

“Reading in the Creche” starts on 18 November at 10 am at the Brotherhood of Santa Cruz creche. Aline Bei will star in a reading of a children’s story by José Viale Moutinho, winner of the dst 2024 Grand Prize for Literature for his work “Progressive Disappearance.”

Then it is on to the Brotherhood of Santa Cruz and “Ler no Lar” (Reading in the Senior Citizen’s Home) at 10.30 am, with a reading of poems from “Diário do Medo” (Diary of Fear) by João Melo, winner of the 2023 dstangola/Camões Literature Prize. This will also be enlivened by Aline Bei.

On the 19th, Gonçalo M. Tavares will be at the “Read at the Hospital” event in Braga reading poems from José Viale Moutinho’s “Progressive Disappearance,” a moment that will also be marked by the offer of a bookcase with two dozen books from the publisher Livros Cotovia, including novels, short stories and poetry.

Finally, on the 22nd, “Reading in Prison” takes Álvaro Cúria to Braga Prison to read poems from “Movement” by João Luís Barreto Guimarães, winner of the 2022 dst Grand Prize for Literature

In response to a challenge from the National Reading Plan (PNL), there will also be a reading party at the dstgroup campus in Braga for university students and employees of the group. This will take place on 21 November between 4.30 and 6.30 p.m.

Reading Party

This “reading party” will follow a meeting on reading with higher education students organized by the PNL as part of the Utopia Literary Festival, involving university students from all over the country taking part in the PNL’s network of higher education reading clubs, which funds around 50 clubs a year.

"I’m intensely searching for answers, in all fields, to the question: what is literature for? Literature frees those who are imprisoned because the thoughts fuelled by reading are not imprisoned. Literature is a therapist. Literature educates. Literature prolongs a healthy life. Literature is a party,” explains José Teixeira, president of the dstgroup.

It should be remembered that last year, as part of the 18th dst Grand Prize for Literature, the dstgroup launched its Ler ao Café (Reading at the Café) initiative, in which it gave away dozens of books to some of Braga’s most emblematic cafés and later, at the Utopia Literary Festival, launched the unprecedented “dst – alive in bookshops” initiative, which has brought authors to read extracts from their works in bookshops across the country, with the aim of bringing the community closer to literature, Portuguese authors, culture and the arts.

It should also be noted that in addition to this initiative, the dstgroup is promoting three other totally free events as part of the Utopia Literary Festival. For the inaugural session, to be held at the Espaço Vita, dst is inviting the writer and journalist Leïla Slimani. The following day, 16 November, she will host the 14th session of the dst - alive in bookshops initiative at the 100ª Página, with Julieta Monginho and Frederico Pedreira. Finally, on the 23rd, it is organizing a concert at Theatro Circo with the artist Johnny Hooker, followed by an after-party at Oboé with the DJs Amadeu Clasen and Monte.

Another surprise initiative as part of the festival will be announced shortly.
