Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.

Solidarity. (from the lat. solidare) n. 1. the quality of being solidary; 2. reciprocal responsibility among the members of a group, namely social, professional, etc.; 3. sense of sharing another’s suffering.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

New dst group minimalist window factory begins production in March

Construir

Industry. On the eve of the opening of trade fair BAU, in Munich, dst group announced the launch of its new minimalist glazing brand. Fusing design and cutting-edge technology, the new factory is set to begin operations in March, and by 2030, the new unit is expected to be contributing 30 million the turnover of Bysteel, the Braga-based group’s metal construction company, whose business experienced strong growth in 2024.

“Lyrical emerged as a natural consequence of the growth of Bysteel, responding to needs identified over the years. Throughout its existence, Bysteel has acknowledged that despite being an established name in the metal structures and facades sector, the luxury segment and designer windows has untapped potential, especially in terms of minimalist solutions”, says André Pereira, Director-General of Lyrical.

Lyrical, the new dst group factory, dedicated to the manufacture of minimalist windows, begins production in March. The brand launched at the BAU, in Munich, an auspicious beginning and an opportunity to win potential clients in the domestic market and in Dubai.

Lyrical is a Bysteel fs brand and represents a 15-million-euro investment, “with an independent industrial unit, allowing it to operate autonomously and to the highest standard”, explains André Pereira, Director-General of Lyrical, speaking to construir. The Lyrical factory, designed by architect Eduardo Souto Moura, with a surface area of approximately 10,000 m2, is designed and laid out efficiently in order to optimise production flows and minimise waste and inefficiency throughout the production chain, from reception of materials to delivery of finished products.  “Lyrical emerged as a natural consequence of the growth of Bysteel, responding to needs identified over the years. Throughout its existence, Bysteel has acknowledged that despite being an established name in the metal structures and facades sector, the luxury segment and designer windows has untapped potential, especially in terms of minimalist solutions. It was designed to plug this gap, and to offer solutions that harmoniously combine design with energy efficiency, elevating the status of the window in the architectural context,” explains André Pereira.

The Lyrical facility in Braga will produce energy efficient, minimalist windows, which André Pereira promises will be “the best on the European market”, also highlighting the “innovative design and aesthetics and the product’s potential for customisation, personalisation and modularity”. The brand’s turnover is forecast to reach 30 million euros by 2030, driven by expansion into new markets, including the United States (it should be noted that this interview took place before the new US president embarked on a tariff war), and the establishment of “strategic partnerships that will strengthen our global presence”, asserts the Lyrical director-general.

“Innovation and sustainability are central to our strategy. They are essential symbiotic pillars that drive excellence and forward-thinking and give us the competitive edge needed to work on demanding and refined buildings on the global stage. We have made a significant investment in a varied portfolio of projects, developing new materials and innovative products”, states Rodrigo Araújo, director-general of Bysteel and Bysteel f.

THE GROWTH OF BYSTEEL The focus on international markets is unsurprising and chimes with the strategy of its parent company. Over 90% of the turnover of Bysteel, including Bysteel fs, comes from foreign markets. Major markets include France, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Angola. In 2024, dst group companies in the field of metal construction achieved an estimated turnover of almost 70 million results euros (provisional figures), considerably higher than the 42.7-million-euro turnover recorded in 2023. “In 2024, we encountered changes in the markets in which we operate. We observed an uptick in the Angolan economy, with public spending on the rise, which enabled us to build a substantial portfolio in this market”, explains Rodrigo Araújo, speaking to CONSTRUIR. Also contributing to this turnover was the company’s first project in Luxembourg, the new headquarters of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, currently under construction in the municipality of Kirchberg. The Portuguese company announced that it had been awarded this contract in October.

“Innovation and sustainability are central to our strategy. They are essential symbiotic pillars that drive excellence and forward-thinking and give us the competitive edge needed to work on demanding and refined buildings on the global stage. We have made a significant investment in a varied portfolio of projects, developing new materials and innovative products, for example glazing that incorporates latest generation electronics and new high-performance, minimalist frame systems, recently launched under the new Lyrical brand, proof that these efforts are bearing fruit”, asserts the Bysteel Director-General.

INVESTMENT IN MODULAR CONSTRUCTION

The investment in the new Lyrical facility is part of a broader strategy in line with the R2U Technologies mobilising agenda. In this context “in terms of investment we can confirm that 50% of the projected budget for this agenda has already been allocated. In terms of the projects completed, the partners are all working to successfully deliver the 18 PPS (Products, Processes and Services) covered. Some of the products have already been developed and brought to market (for example minimalist window frames and pods) and most of the rest are at the prototyping and testing phase”, reports André Pereira. The dst group modular construction department is set to continue to grow throughout 2025, not only through the work of Lyrical but also with the construction of the real scale prototype, the Living Lab, at the group’s campus in Braga.

“Challenges for 2025 include Bysteel fs’s increased focus on Brazil, where we currently have a smaller portfolio of projects. At Lyrical, as a new brand, we want to break into several markets, including France, UK, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada, and Dubai in 2025. Our aim is to conquer new markets with this new brand. We want to consolidate the business of our companies, despite the downturn in the construction market. We want to find ways of bucking the trend. We also intend to consolidate the Luxembourg market and continue our work in Angola, another major commercial challenge for 2025, considering the slow progress or even suspension of some deals currently under negotiation”, outlines Rodrigo Araújo Director-General of Bysteel and Bysteel fs.
