Rigor. (from the lat. rigore) n. 1. harshness; strength; 2.fig., severity; punctuality; accuracy.

There is no "more or less levelled", "more or less upright”, "more or less clean" or "more or less safe", but rather “levelled”, "upright”, "clean” and “safe". The rigour is reflected in our procedures, in time and in the rules to follow. In the light of moral and principles, being severe means being rigorous.

Passion. (from the lat. passione) n. 1. intense and usually violent feeling (affection, joy, hate, etc.) which hinders the exercise of impartial logic; 2. derived from a feeling; 3. great predilection; 4. partiality; 5. great grief; immense suffering...

Under the sign of passion – a text of the Portuguese poet Regina Guimarães – is our icon. Passion is to reveal great enthusiasm for something, favourable encouragement or opposite to something.
It is the sensibility transmitted by an architect or engineer through work.
Passion is the dedication to a project. Passion is a state of warm soul.

Loyalty. (from the lat. legalitate) n. the quality of being loyal; fidelity; sincerity.

Solidarity. (from the lat. solidare) n. 1. the quality of being solidary; 2. reciprocal responsibility among the members of a group, namely social, professional, etc.; 3. sense of sharing another’s suffering.

Being solidary is being a friend, offering our hand with genuine generosity and bringing joy and human warmth to those who, somehow, are marginalized. Being solidary is being more human. A solidary company is recognized as a fair and non-selfish company. A solidary company is a preferred choice in business. It is a more competitive company. Volunteering is a vehicle to solidarity. It is modern, fair, cultured, friend, it is a noble gesture of moral elevation.

Courage. (from the lat. coraticum) n. 1. bravery facing danger; intrepidity; to have audacity; 2. moral force before a suffering or setback; 3. [fig.] to input energy when performing a difficult task; perseverance...

Courage is essential in our life. Courage to face less pleasant situations when complex issues come up, not expecting random resolutions.
It is a value that we must highlight as opposed to the fearful, cowardly and laziness.
The courage to react to criticism not with an attitude of demotivation or sadness, but rather to search for the means and the action to overcome its own reason. This kind of courage, which is also an intellectual courage, is highly recommended.

Esthetics. ESTHETICS (from the Greek aisthetiké, "sensitive") n.f. 1. Philosophy branch of philosophy that studies the beauty and nature of artistic phenomena; 2. author's own style, time, etc.; 3. harmony of shapes and colors, beauty; 4. set of techniques and treatments that aim to beautify the body.

We decided to build the company's economic foundations under a cultured, cosmopolitan and cool image. Because it is a charming state of being. Good taste because we are sustainable and we respect the planet. Good taste because we are sensitive. Good taste just because.

Responsibility. (from the lat respondere) n. the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct; a form of trustworthiness.

We must be certain that, before a choice, we chose what is best for both of us and not just the best for each one. Each employee is responsible for his negotiated activity and co-responsible if the co-worker does not fulfil his own task, thus preventing the common goal. A team is a set of individuals - is a whole. In the business game, as in social or family contexts, everyone must comply with their own relative position and we shall not permit that one of ours fails to be in our team.

Spain issues a challenge to Portugal for an Iberian housing alliance

TSF

The proposal was made by Iñaqui Carnicero, secretary-general for Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture of the Government of Spain, during a visit to the Dst Group Braga campus, which is considered as a laboratory for sustainable solutions for architecture and construction.

Curiosity about industrial construction projects led the secretary-general for Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture of the Government of Spain to visit the Braga campus, where the Dst Group has been developing solutions that contribute to a more sustainable architecture and construction, including the mobilising agenda project, which was awarded an RRP grant.

At the end, Iñaqui Carnicero seemed to have no doubts. He believes that the way is open for an Iberian alliance to respond to the challenges of housing, at a time when Portugal and Spain are facing mounting pressure to respond to the housing crisis and urban regeneration.

According to this official, “on the Spanish side, the government is promoting PERTE for the Industrialisation of Housing, as a key instrument for modernising the sector, increasing productivity, improving the sustainability of processes and, above all, ensuring a rapid and high-quality response to the housing needs of citizens, but this transformation cannot be seen solely in terms of production efficiency. It must be accompanied by a firm commitment to architectural excellence, the cultural value of the built environment and a positive impact on cities”.

After considering that the Dst Group’s experience represents an exemplary model of housing for the future in responding to the housing problem, “due to its ability to integrate industrialised processes with high-quality architectural proposals – as demonstrated by its collaboration with internationally renowned figures such as Norman Foster, Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura – this shows that this is the path to follow, an industrialisation that does not sacrifice design, but rather enhances it.”

Iñaqui Carnicero concluded that “this is the right moment to foster greater collaboration between Spain and Portugal and move forward with an Iberian alliance in favour of industrialised construction. Only in this way will we be able to transform and modernise the production model of the residential sector and position the Iberian Peninsula as a hub of innovation and leadership from southern Europe, integrating technological innovation, architectural excellence and social commitment as the axes of a transformation with a European focus.”

Within the Braga-based group facilities, there are two industrial units currently being built alongside the Living Lab – a living laboratory for developing and testing new solutions, in partnership with the team of Norman Foster, one of the leading figures in international architecture, as well as other Pritzker Prize winners such as Eduardo Souto Moura and Álvaro Siza Vieira.

During the meeting, the creation of an Iberian Institute for Industrialised Construction was discussed, as well as concrete forms of cooperation between the two countries in this strategic area, crucial for delivering large-scale, innovative, sustainable, and rapid solutions to present and future urban challenges.”

For the host entrepreneurs, this visit represents a clear sign of the international recognition of the Dst Group as a key player in the transformation of the construction sector and as a strategic partner for a new vision of housing in the Iberian Peninsula.

The head of the Dst Group considered it an honour to have received the Secretary-General for Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture of the Government of Spain.

José Teixeira stressed that the visit made it possible to show Iñaqui Carnicero “the cutting-edge industrial construction available within the group, as part of the R2U mobilising agenda, through the ZETHAUS project, reflecting the group’s forward-looking vision for the sector.”

The chairperson also stated that he had the opportunity to discuss the fact that, through living bases for displaced workers and emigrants, the sector could contribute substantially – over 60,000 in the next five years to be put on the market – since the living bases will be designed to be permanent and not temporary.”

The DST Group is a Portuguese enterprise already operating in markets such as France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Monaco and Angola and is active in the areas of Engineering & Construction, Environment, Renewable Energies, Telecommunications, Real Estate and Ventures. It is also a leading cultural patron, considering support for culture and art to be an intrinsic part of its identity, which he believes is most visibly reflected in its ‘building culture’ brand signature.
